Hotels near
Hotels near O2 Academy Birmingham on Bristol Street, compared on walking distance, parking and late arrival practicality.
O2 Academy Birmingham sits on the Horsefair at the top of Bristol Street, just south of the city centre core. It is close enough to the middle that a large part of the hotel stock is walkable, and far enough south that the nearest options are not the ones people first think of.
Gigs here finish late and the venue empties onto a main road rather than a pedestrian square. That makes the walk back the thing worth planning, more than the walk there. The table below is ordered by distance from the venue.

Distances are straight-line, calculated from each property's own coordinates. Walking times are derived from those distances with an allowance for street routing, so treat them as indicative for comparing hotels against each other rather than as measured route times.
Thumbnails show the nearest landmark or the area each property sits in, never the property itself. We hold no licensed photograph of these hotels and we do not generate one.

Roads, canals, parks and stations are drawn from OpenStreetMap. Hotels are plotted from their own coordinates.
The route back into the centre runs north up Bristol Street and Smallbrook Queensway towards New Street and the Bullring, or north-east towards the Hippodrome and the Chinese Quarter. Both are main roads, lit and reasonably busy after a gig, and both take roughly ten to fifteen minutes.
Because the venue is on the southern edge, hotels on the Broad Street side of the centre are further away than the raw city-centre label suggests. If the late walk matters, favour the hotels between the venue and New Street rather than anything west of the station.
Bristol Street and the surrounding blocks have public car parks, but this is not an area with much hotel parking. For a gig night, the practical pattern is the same as elsewhere in central Birmingham: if you are driving, look slightly further out for a hotel with its own car park and accept a longer walk, or use a public garage and factor the cost in.
The table above ranks our selection by distance from the venue on the Horsefair. The nearest cluster sits between the Academy and New Street, which is also the most useful direction for the walk back.
Most shows end late in the evening and the venue empties onto Bristol Street. The walk north into the centre takes roughly ten to fifteen minutes on lit main roads. It is a normal walk rather than a pleasant one, so a shorter one is worth something here.
Larger chain hotels in the centre generally staff reception overnight. Smaller properties may not, and a few use code entry instead. Where we could confirm the arrangement it appears on the hotel page; otherwise confirm directly before booking a late arrival.
They are both on the southern side of the centre and a short walk apart, so a hotel that suits one usually suits the other. The Hippodrome sits east towards Hurst Street and the Chinese Quarter.
For most people, yes. The gain in onward travel usually outweighs a few extra minutes of walking, and the hotel choice is much wider. Stay closer to the venue if the late walk itself is the concern.
