Best Birmingham hotels
Booking a Birmingham hotel tonight. Which areas hold the most rooms, what pushes prices up on event nights and which properties take a late arrival.
We do not show live prices, so this page will not tell you what is cheapest tonight. What it can do is tell you where the rooms are, which is the part that does not change: Birmingham's supply is heavily concentrated in a few postcodes, and knowing which ones saves a lot of refreshing.
The other half of a late booking is arrival. A cheap room is no use if reception closed at 22:00 and the code was emailed to an address you cannot get to. Where we could establish a check-in constraint, it is shown.
Across the wider Booking.com inventory for Birmingham, supply is not evenly spread. The city centre postcodes hold by far the largest block of properties, followed by Edgbaston and Hagley Road, then the Jewellery Quarter. Digbeth, Selly Oak and the Solihull and NEC corridor are much thinner.
Two practical consequences. First, if you need a room tonight, the centre and the Hagley Road corridor are where to look, in that order. Second, when a large event fills the centre, Hagley Road and the NEC corridor are the overflow, and they are on a tram line and a rail line respectively.
Median nightly prices differ by area too. Moseley sits lowest of the measured areas, Digbeth, Selly Oak and the Solihull corridor sit in the middle, and the Jewellery Quarter and city centre sit at the top. On an event night that ordering compresses, because the centre fills first.
Editorial picks
Each pick names the situation it suits. A hotel that is right for one trip is usually wrong for another.

Distances are straight-line, calculated from each property's own coordinates. Walking times are derived from those distances with an allowance for street routing, so treat them as indicative for comparing hotels against each other rather than as measured route times.
Thumbnails show the nearest landmark or the area each property sits in, never the property itself. We hold no licensed photograph of these hotels and we do not generate one.
A dash means we could not establish that detail, not that the answer is no. We leave it open rather than guess.
Practical details checked: September 2026
Start with the city centre, which holds the largest concentration of rooms by a wide margin, then Edgbaston and Hagley Road, which is the usual overflow and is on the tram line. If a major event is on, skip straight to the second of those.
Sometimes, and unpredictably. On ordinary weeknights late availability can be cheap. On event nights and during large NEC shows the opposite happens. We do not publish live rates, so check the current price rather than relying on a rule of thumb.
Larger chain hotels in the centre generally staff reception overnight. Smaller guest houses often do not, and a few properties use code entry with instructions sent in advance. Where we could confirm the arrangement it is in the table and on the hotel page.
On a night with no show on, yes. The corridor has several large hotels, they are on the rail line into New Street, and rates are often lower than the centre. During a large exhibition it is the worst place to look.
Arena and ICC events, large NEC exhibitions, home matchdays and graduation weeks. If your dates coincide with one, booking further ahead is worth considerably more than hunting for a late deal.
