About this guide

Best Birmingham Hotels is an independent guide to choosing where to stay in Birmingham. It exists because the hard part of booking a hotel here is not finding one. It is working out which of several hundred plausible options actually fits the trip you are making.

What this site does

We take a single decision at a time, such as an arena night, an early flight, a family of four in one room or a car that needs parking, and compare the relevant Birmingham properties on the details that decide it. Distance, parking, room configuration, and the trade-off that comes with each choice.

Every walking distance on the site is calculated from the property's own coordinates rather than taken from a description. Where a figure is indicative rather than a measured route, the page says so.

What this site is not

It is not a booking engine and it does not hold live availability or live prices. Where a page shows a price band, it describes where a property normally sits in the market, not what a room costs on your dates. The link to check current rates goes to a booking partner.

We have not stayed at these hotels, and we do not write as though we have. There are no invented guest experiences on this site, no fictional local experts, and no reviewer names. What we offer is systematic comparison and editorial judgement based on facts we can point to, which is a different thing from a personal review and, for most booking decisions, a more useful one.

Who runs it

The site is run by a small independent team rather than a media group or a travel company. It is not affiliated with any hotel, hotel chain, venue or tourism body in Birmingham.

How it makes money

Booking links on this site are affiliate links. If you book through one, the booking partner may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. That arrangement pays for the research; it does not decide which hotels appear or where they rank.

Several properties on this site have no affiliate link at all, including two of the largest budget chains in Birmingham, because they are not available through our partner. They are still listed and still compared, because a Birmingham guide that ignored them would be incomplete.

Corrections

Practical details change. Parking charges, pet policies, pool hours and hotel names all move, and we would rather hear about it than leave it wrong. If something on this site is out of date or incorrect, please tell us and we will check it.
