Hotels near
Hotels near the ICC and Symphony Hall compared on walking distance, parking and price, for conferences, concerts and Centenary Square events.
The ICC and Symphony Hall share a site at the Centenary Square end of Broad Street, which makes this one of the few Birmingham venues where a genuinely short walk is available at almost every price level.
Two different trips book this page. A conference delegate wants a reliable room, a desk and a walk of under ten minutes for three consecutive mornings. A concert audience wants somewhere pleasant to eat first and a short walk back afterwards. The comparison below serves both, ordered by distance, with the parking and price columns to separate them.
Editorial picks
Each pick names the situation it suits. A hotel that is right for one trip is usually wrong for another.

Distances are straight-line, calculated from each property's own coordinates. Walking times are derived from those distances with an allowance for street routing, so treat them as indicative for comparing hotels against each other rather than as measured route times.
Thumbnails show the nearest landmark or the area each property sits in, never the property itself. We hold no licensed photograph of these hotels and we do not generate one.

The complex fronts onto Centenary Square, with the Library of Birmingham on one side and the canal and Brindleyplace behind. The Library tram stop is on the square itself, on the West Midlands Metro line that continues down Broad Street to Five Ways and Edgbaston Village and back through the centre to Grand Central.
For a conference, the useful detail is that Centenary Square is about a 15 minute flat walk from New Street, so a station-side hotel is workable if the ICC hotels are full or overpriced during a large event. For an evening concert, the same walk in reverse is the part people underestimate.
Conference weeks push demand into the surrounding public car parks, and the Brindleyplace and Broad Street garages are the usual fallback. A hotel car park within walking distance is worth a premium during a large event, because it takes the daily search out of the schedule entirely.
Where the table shows a hotel using a nearby garage rather than its own car park, treat the walk from that garage as part of every arrival and departure, not just the first one.
The top of the table covers the Centenary Square and Brindleyplace cluster, all of which are a short flat walk. The list continues out to the New Street side, which is roughly 15 minutes.
They share one site at Centenary Square and are usually treated as a single destination for travel purposes. Symphony Hall is the concert venue within the complex; the ICC is the conference and exhibition side.
Yes. The Library tram stop sits on Centenary Square, on the West Midlands Metro line that runs from Grand Central through the centre and along Broad Street to Edgbaston Village.
Look for the combination of a walk under ten minutes and either on-site parking or a workable rail arrival, depending on how you travel. For three consecutive early starts, the shorter walk earns its premium; for a single day it usually does not.
New Street is the main one, at roughly a 15 minute flat walk, and it connects to the venue by tram as well. Five Ways station is closer to the western end of Broad Street if your service calls there.
