Our verdict

You will find AC Hotel Birmingham on The Mailbox, Birmingham city centre, 0.35 miles from New Street. New Street is around 9 minutes on foot and the Bullring around 15 minutes on foot, so the centre is walkable without planning transport.

Arriving by train, it is around 9 minutes on foot from the platforms. For an arena night it is around 15 minutes on foot.

Within about fifteen minutes on foot: Broad Street (6 min), Birmingham New Street Station (9 min), the ICC and Symphony Hall (9 min) and O2 Academy Birmingham (10 min). That combination is what you are really booking here.

It holds 8.5 out of 10 on Booking from 1,414 reviews, a normal sample for the city. That is 0.2 above the 8.3 average across the other 22 rated properties we compare in Birmingham city centre.

In the pricing snapshot behind this guide it listed at around £106 a night. That is about £8 above the £98 median across the other 23 priced properties we compare in Birmingham city centre. It is a snapshot rather than a live rate, and it will not match your dates.

Its closest neighbour in our selection is The Cube, 69 metres away, and the two are close enough on price and rating that the deciding factor is whichever is cheaper on your dates.

It is not the right answer for everyone, because there is no hotel car park, so a driver needs one of the public garages around The Mailbox and the walk that comes with it.
