Great Barr, junction 7 of the M6, 5.6 miles from New Street. What follows is the practical detail: distances, parking, who it suits and where it does not.
Our verdict
You will find Holiday Inn Birmingham M6, JCT.7 by IHG on Chapel Ln, Great Barr, junction 7 of the M6, 5.6 miles from New Street. It has a pool, which only a handful of Birmingham hotels do.
On parking, own car park. Guests describe good and plentiful parking. Note that there is no lift.
On the pool: a pool is indicated by listing data.. That comes from guest reports rather than the operator, so confirm it when you book.
None of the Birmingham destinations we measure is walkable from here, so plan the car, the train or a taxi into the trip rather than treating this as a base you can step out of.
It holds 7.2 out of 10 on Booking from 3,082 reviews, a normal sample for the city. That is 0.8 below the 8.0 average across the other 11 rated properties we compare in the wider West Midlands.
In the pricing snapshot behind this guide it listed at around £64 a night. That is about £21 below the £85 median across the other 13 priced properties we compare in the wider West Midlands. It is a snapshot rather than a live rate, and it will not match your dates.
Its closest neighbour in our selection is The Great Barr Hotel Birmingham, 1.4 miles away. Against that one, this hotel usually costs less and has a pool it does not.
It qualifies for our hotels with parking, cheap hotels and hotels with a pool comparisons, which is a reasonable shorthand for what it is good at.
The other side of that: it is well outside Birmingham, so anything in the city centre means a drive of twenty minutes or more in each direction.
