Clover Spa and Hotel
Erdington, 4.9 miles from New Street. What follows is the practical detail: distances, parking, who it suits and where it does not.
Our verdict
On Chester Rd in Erdington, 4.9 miles from New Street: that is where Clover Spa and Hotel sits. The spa and the grounds are the reason to come, and neither exists at this scale inside the city.
On the spa: a sauna, steam room and plunge pool.. That comes from guest reports rather than the operator, so confirm it when you book. On the hot tub: an outdoor hot tub. This is a naturist spa hotel and is over 18s only.. That comes from guest reports rather than the operator, so confirm it when you book.
None of the Birmingham destinations we measure is walkable from here, so plan the car, the train or a taxi into the trip rather than treating this as a base you can step out of.
It holds 9.5 out of 10 on Booking from 36 reviews, a small sample for a Birmingham hotel. That is 1.7 above the 7.8 average across the other 11 rated properties we compare in the wider West Midlands.
In the pricing snapshot behind this guide it listed at around £175 a night. That is about £90 above the £85 median across the other 13 priced properties we compare in the wider West Midlands. It is a snapshot rather than a live rate, and it will not match your dates.
Its closest neighbour in our selection is New Hall Hotel & Spa, 1.6 miles away. Against that one, this hotel rates 0.7 higher and usually costs less.
It qualifies for our hotels with hot tubs, spa hotels in and around birmingham and luxury and 5-star hotels comparisons, which is a reasonable shorthand for what it is good at.
It is not the right answer for everyone, because the city centre is 4.9 miles away, so an evening in town needs a plan for the journey back.
